Second time’s a charm.
That was the going sentiment last night as folks left our backyard after enjoying the latest installment in our annual supper + song concert series.
Not to say that April’s s+s launch party featuring beauties Karen Elson and Kate Tucker wasn’t an absolute treat: it was amazing. Truthfully, we can’t imagine a more lovely way to kick off our third season with a lineup that looked as good as they sounded.
Last night was more of the same, as s+s vets and newbies, those old and young (the baby contingent just keeps growing!), gathered in the gravel to enjoy the immense talent of singer-songwriters Caitlin Rose and Rayland Baxter, who shared a double bill.
You could tell the crowd loved them by the way they didn’t respond. You could hear a pin drop as Caitlin hit her high notes in that signature crystalline voice of hers; everyone listened, rapt, as Rayland crafted gorgeous harmonies with the help of his two honey-throated backup singers. Gorgeous.
Simply put, if this was any indication of what each third Wednesday of the next five months holds in store, we’re in for one hot summer.
About our photographer: Every day is a story, every year is a novel, and Allister Ann does her best to capture a small chapter whenever she can. With light as her companion and film as her counterpart, she photographs a moment that our eyes might miss, or our minds may forget, and presents it as an artistic truth with poetic grace that allows our imaginations to wander beyond the image.
